With Cheryl Klein

So you’ve written something, you think it’s stellar, and everyone in your writing workshop thinks it's stellar. Now what? This workshop will provide an overview for writers of fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction who are ready for the “next step.” We will discuss finding the right outlet for your work, seeking and gaining the interest of an agent, querying literary journals and independent presses, and presenting your work publicly at readings and other events. We will also discuss online publishing and recent changes in the publishing world.

SPEAKER: Cheryl Klein directs the California office of the nonprofit service organization Poets & Writers. She is the author of Lilac Mines (Manic D Press) and The Commuters, which won City Works Press’ Ben Reitman Award. Her fiction has appeared in The Normal School, Other, and several anthologies. An alumna of UCLA and CalArts, she has taught creative writing to college students, homeless youth, high school girls, and teen boys in the criminal justice system. She lives in Los Angeles and online at www.cheryl-klein.com.

Free parking is available on Hyperion Ave. after 8pm, on Griffith Park Blvd., and in the small lot directly across the street from the theatre.

This workshop was made possible, in part, by support provided by the California Arts Council, the Los Angeles County Arts Commission, and the California Community Foundation.
