Fashion Law Primer: Protecting Your Designs

You have created unique designs for your fashion business, but how can you protect those designs from competition? This Fashion Law Primer will help you develop a protection strategy by providing an overview of the basic ways to protect your fashion and accessory designs. Join CLA to learn what types of intellectual property rights are available for apparel and jewelry designs, and how you can use contracts to further protect your rights.


Presenters:  

Rachel Fischbein, Esq. - Rachel Fischbein is the founder of Law On The Runway. She is a graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law and licensed to practice law in California. Additionally, she holds a bachelor's degree in fashion marketing from Woodbury University. Law On The Runway primarily assists fashion and beauty entrepreneurs as they build the foundation of their companies and navigate contractual relationships. Ms. Fischbein is an active member of the San Francisco Fashion and Merchant Alliance, Digitally Chic, and a registered panel attorney for the California Lawyers for the Arts.


Tanya Eliason, Esq. - Tanya Eliason is the founder of Eliason Legal Solution specializing in intellectual property and general business law. Tanya earned her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where she concentrated in intellectual property and is a member of the California Bar. She is proud to be part of the inaugural class of attorneys participating in the California Lawyers for the Arts’– Modest Means Incubator Program. She is passionate about helping artists and makers protect their creations and innovations.
