Live Performance Contracts
with Gordon Firemark, Esq.

Theatrical Attorney Gordon Firemark will explain the nitty-gritty of live performance contracts and the surrounding legal issues. You'll learn about Performer Agreements for plays and musicals, financing and producing one-person shows, booking agreements for headliners and other performers, and the special issues surrounding stage combat, nudity, and recording of performances. We'll also discuss agreements for the engagement of directors, choreographers, support personnel, accompanists, and backup musicians. Finally, Mr. Firemark will recommend safeguards to ensure you get paid, and what to do when confronted with safety concerns or other day-of-show problems. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers.

SPEAKER: Gordon Firemark practices entertainment law in Los Angeles, helping artists and others in the fields of theatre, film, television, music, and media realize their dreams. Over his nearly 20 years in practice, he’s advised countless young artists and their parents in connection with their dealings in this exciting, but challenging, industry. He is the producer and host of the Entertainment Law Update podcast, and teaches Business Law at Loyola Marymount University, Theatre Law at Southwestern Law School, and operates the how-to website professorshowbiz.com.

These workshops were made possible, in part, by support provided by the California Arts Council, the Los Angeles County Arts Commission, the California Community Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
