Practical Business Strategies for Visual Artists
with Ashley McLean Emenegger (Milo + McLean; McLean Fine Art)

This workshop will provide straightforward, no-nonsense advice and strategies on art marketing, obtaining exhibitions, building your résumé, promoting your art, and finding gallery representation. You’ll learn about the basics of the business of art, including appealing to your best audience, creating an optimal portfolio and website, and developing the proper plans to achieve what it is that you want for your art career.

Ashley McLean Emenegger is an art consultant, independent curator, writer, and visual artist career coach. In 2010 she co-founded the art consultancy firm Milo + McLean and founded McLean Fine Art in 2004. As Director of Bandini Art Gallery, Culver City, she curated many of its critically recognized exhibitions. Her independent curatorial projects have been reviewed in the Los Angeles Times, Artweek, Artscene, Review Magazine, on The Huffington Post, among others. As Executive Director of the Gallery 825/LAAA, Ms. Emenegger presented hundreds of exhibitions and educational programs that received public and critical acclaim. Prior to Gallery 825, she worked at the Santa Monica Museum of Art. Her art reviews and articles have been featured in multiple publications, and she served as managing editor for THE Magazine LA. Ms. Emenegger is currently consulting editor and artist advice columnist for Bluecanvas. She is also an exhibiting artist.

These workshops were made possible, in part, by support provided by the California Arts Council, the Los Angeles County Arts Commission, the California Community Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
