How To Prepare And Present Your Small Claims Case

With Paul Slavit, Esq.

This program will provide practical information concerning the effective use of small claims court. Attendees will learn about the uses, and limitations, of small claims court, and available resources when preparing to file a claim. The program will explain how to file and serve the claim; prepare evidence and demonstrative materials for presentation to the court; and apply best practices during the trial. In addition, the presenter will address pre-trial dispute resolution alternatives, appeals, and post-judgment procedures.This workshop is helpful for artists of all disciplines as well as the general public.

Presenter:
Paul Slavit served ten years as a court commissioner in the San Francisco Superior Court, more than three of those years in the small claims division. He will draw on that experience, and his 25 years of private law practice, to give a judicial officer's observations and advice on the most effective methods in small claims cases.
