Documentary Filmmaking and the Law
with Gary Goldberger, Esq.

Documentary filmmakers face a unique blend of legal and business issues. This workshop will examine these issues, including: optioning life rights, licenses and permissions (releases), the need for production and errors and omissions insurance, requirements for filming, fair use (copyright) issues, legal aspects of distribution, and more. Attendees' questions and concerns will help shape the discussion!

Presenter: Gary G. Goldberger has operated a solo practice focused on transactional entertainment law, new media and general business law, since 2007. He represents individual and corporate clients in areas including television (scripted and unscripted), independent film (scripted and documentary), new media, music, publishing, art, international, licensing, company formation, and general agreements. Prior to opening his own practice, he worked as the Executive Vice President of Carlton America, an international television production and distribution company, and as an independent producer of television movies.
