Insurance Basics for Art Galleries, Dealers and Artists

Presented by Victoria France, Managing Director, Fine Art Division of Robertson Taylor International Insurance Brokers, this workshop will focus on the insurance needs of galleries, dealers and artists. Some of the topics to be covered include:

· an overview of the types of insurance available to galleries, dealers and artists;

· an explanation of the process of obtaining insurance, including information about requesting quotes and working with insurance brokers;

· the basic elements of gallery, dealer and artist insurance policies and coverage conditions and exclusions;

· insurance issues surrounding art fairs, exhibitions, consignments, transits and other special situations;

· the claims procedure.

The presentation will conclude with a question and answer session.

About the speaker:

Victoria France is Managing Director in the Fine Art Division of Robertson Taylor International Insurance Brokers. She has more than 25 years experience in the fine art, museum and collections insurance field, in addition to prior professional museum and art gallery experience. Victoria’s experience includes placing fine art collections insurance for museums of all sizes and types, exhibitions, federal indemnity programs, private and corporate collections, university and college collections, auctioneers, dealers and galleries.

Victoria holds a Bachelor of Arts degrees in Art History and Political Science from the University of California, Riverside, with emphasis on Russian Studies. Most recently, Victoria was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Western Museums Association, and previously served on WMA’s Program Committee. She is member of ArtTable, the national organization for professional women in the visual arts; maintains membership and annual attendance for the Western Museums Association, among others, as well as with AAM. She is a frequent guest panelist and speaker for these and other arts organizations.
