CLA is seeking a part-time Bookkeeper to join our statewide team in our San Francisco office. The position is located at Fort Mason Center in the Marina District and is open until filled. This position reports to the Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Process biweekly payroll.
- Record and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Process payments for approved operational expenses.
- Maintain the general ledger in an accurate, complete, and up-to-date manner.
- Prepare financial reports for quarterly board meetings and grant invoices as needed.
- Reconcile bank accounts on a monthly basis.
- Reconcile grants receivable and deferred income quarterly basis.
- Provide information as needed for annual audits and grant proposals.
- Make bank deposits and perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years relevant experience with bookkeeping responsibilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Excel and GoogleSuite.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Familiarity with online payroll services, such as ADP.
- Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills with adherence to confidentiality and security standards
Salary range: $26-$28/hour

California Lawyers for the Arts (CLA) is a non-profit, tax-exempt service organization that was founded as Bay Area Lawyers for the Arts in 1974. The Arts and Community Development Program includes Spotlight on the Arts, a program that provides workforce readiness for disadvantaged high school students through internships, college counseling and enrichment workshops. More than 1,000 youth have participated in this program since it was launched in 1993.
The Program Manager will recruit participants and worksites for the summer program, interview applicants, match youth with appropriate organizations, lead career development workshops, coordinate counseling services, coordinate interns’ biweekly payroll, evaluate the project, compile required reports for funders, and implement other program components as needed.
BA or equivalent degree required, as well as a criminal background check. Desired qualifications include youth development experience, knowledge of the San Francisco arts community, excellent written and oral communication skills, word processing and data management skills, ability to work on multiple tasks as a member of CLA’s statewide team, flexibility and a sense of humor.
The Program Manager may also be invited to lead other educational and community development programs, as additional opportunities become available.
This position is part-time and seasonal, 15-30 hours/week; $25 to $28/hour, depending upon experience. The Program Manager reports to the Executive Director.
