James Irvine Foundation announces a new direction for the arts

Thursday, June 30, 2011 2:30 PM | Alma Robinson (Administrator)

The James Irvine Foundation wants to promote arts engagement for all Californians. On behalf of California Lawyers for the Arts, I posted a comment urging the foundation to include service organizations in their grantmaking portfolio:

We applaud your effort to support the various ways that Californians engage in creative activities, celebrate our diverse cultures and integrate the arts into their daily lives.  I hope that the scope of your grantmaking will include service organizations, which provide the infrastructure that supports non-profit arts organizations and helps individual artists sustain themselves through their work, while educating the public about the need for greater support of the arts.
You can access the Foundation's statement about their new direction and make comments at this link: http://irvine.org/grantmaking/our-programs/arts-program
