Fundamentals of Intellectual Property Licensing

Program:
Intellectual property licenses are essential components of creative businesses in a variety of industries, including film, music and visual arts. Join CLA and attorney Keith L. Cooper to learn about the basics of licensing intellectual property. What does it mean to license intellectual property? When is a license necessary? What are the key components of a licensing agreement? What are the different issues that are important for licensors versus those that are important for licensees? This program will touch on intellectual property licenses in a variety of contexts, including merchandising, music and film.

Presenter:
Keith L. Cooper, Esq. is a business, entertainment, and litigation attorney at de la Peña & Holiday LLP. He assists clients in transactional, copyright and trademark matters, as well as lawsuits. His practice also entails negotiating and drafting entertainment agreements related to merchandising, authorship, songwriting, production, management, distribution, contractor/works for hire, internet privacy and terms of use. Mr. Cooper has represented a range of clients, including music artists/performers, songwriters and arrangers, as well as actors, photographer and designers. He has also represented video game and software entities, a film production company, and clothing and art design companies.
