Arts Entrepreneurship: How to Invent an Arts Organization

This workshop is an introduction to inventing an arts organization, defining its mission, locating the organization within a community, developing its offerings via products, services and public programs, and managing the organization’s numerous operational features. The workshop explores the intersections between art and business. Along with encouraging innovation and creative/critical thinking about the role of arts organizations in society, the workshop examines practical techniques for managing an arts organization, including:

• Building an arts community
• Strategic planning for arts organizations
• Mission and program development
• Fundraising
• Financial management
• Marketing
