Protect your Artistic Creations: A Practical Legal Workshop for Artists
(FREE and In Person-San Diego,CA)
With California Lawyers for the Arts
Featuring: Olivia Casellini of A BETTER Professional Corporation
Join California Lawyers for the Arts as we celebrate Dia De La Mujer in partnership with The Front Gallery in San Ysidro!
As part of The Front’s annual Dia De La Mujer exhibition and month-long series of events, CLA is hosting a FREE in-person introductory art law workshop and community building event.
Why is understanding art law essential for artists and creatives?
Protecting your creative work or your intellectual property is fundamental to an artist's practice as it can avoid legal issues, ensure proper pay, and promote healthier partnerships and collaborations. Understanding the legal side of an art practice can also help you to spot potential contract red-flags, and take proper action when you think someone is utilizing your work without your permission.
Olivia Caselini, our featured speaker, will walk attendees through the fundamentals of art law and deconstruct key legal concepts including equitable contracts, copyright, and infringement. She will also offer helpful tips for self-advocacy!
Artists of all disciplines are encouraged to attend! Attendees will receive a special discount on CLA’s membership package!
About our Speaker:
Olivia Casellini
Liv is a Jane of all trades, working on mastering them all. Here are some things she can help you better understand: labor & employment, contracts, copyright, why SPF is important, and how to approach dogs you’ve never met before. There’s an etiquette to that last one, and as a dog mom, she feels very strongly about it. She's also an independently certified HR professional (SHRM-CP)
Please Note: This event is FREE and open to the public. Registration is required.
