Filmmaking is a huge, collaborative effort that requires a wide variety of agreements throughout the development, production, and sales/distribution process. This workshop will provide an overview of the legal issues that need to be addressed: from option/purchase agreements, to securing licenses and permissions (releases), fair use (copyright) issues, legal aspects of distribution, and more.

Topics Will Include:

• Intellectual property protection (copyright and trademark) 
• Content clearance
• International co-production agreements;
• Network (streaming; broadcast and cable) agreements for series development

About Our Speaker:

Carol T. Contes, Contes Law Corporation

Carol T. Contes, a transactional entertainment attorney who has practiced both in Hollywood and the Silicon Valley for more than twenty years. Ms. Contes began her career in business affairs at International Creative Management in Los Angeles followed by working at other prominent entertainment companies. As a lawyer in private practice, Carol's clientele includes the creators and producers of animated films, streaming television projects and motion pictures distributed throughout the world. Ms. Contes is also 'Of Counsel' to the Guzman Law Group where she heads the entertainment group representing celebrity estates. The firm also provides litigation services to its entertainment clients.
